LITTLE FALLS, NJ - The individual responsible for the assault of t wo security officers on April 8 was spotted near the school premises again on Friday, Superintendent of Passaic Valley High School Bracken Healy announced in a letter.

On the morning of April 8, security officers at Passaic Valley High School (PVHS) observed an unknown adult male approaching the school entrance. When approached by security, the individual claimed he was there to visit former teachers. However, in accordance with district policy, security informed him that an appointment was necessary for such visits. The individual reacted aggressively, assaulting both officers.

According to the letter, on Friday, he approached a group of students near the Browertown Road exit, inquiring about their teachers. Swift action was taken by the students, who promptly reported the incident to a staff member. In response, a shelter-in-place protocol was initiated, and the Little Falls Police Department intervened, subsequently transporting the individual to a hospital for evaluation.

Despite community suggestions to seek a restraining order against the individual, Healy clarified that such measures had been attempted but were unsuccessful due to the school's lack of qualifying relationships under New Jersey law. However, the individual has trespassed from the school property, prohibiting them from accessing the grass portion of the campus. Efforts are underway to secure a special injunction to further safeguard students and staff.

Healy expressed gratitude for the proactive response of both students and staff, emphasizing the effectiveness of the school's security protocols in managing the situation.

"We are exhausting every possible legal step to keep this individual as far away from the school as possible," Healy said in the letter. "In the meantime, we continue to employ a team of armed security officers and the Little Falls Police Department will increase their presence on school grounds. If you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact me."
