YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — A Lisbon man facing gun and drug charges in two separate cases was sentenced Wednesday to three years in prison.

Judge Anthony D’Apolito gave the sentence to Raymond Atkins, 37, who pleaded guilty in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court on charges of aggravated possession of drugs, a third-degree felony; a fifth-degree felony count of the same charge; and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Those charges stemmed from a July arrest by Youngstown police who were investigating a housing complaint at a Harmon Avenue home where Atkins was staying.

Reports said police there found two guns, marijuana, fentanyl and methamphetamine in a garage on the property.

In an unrelated case, Atkins pleaded guilty to a second charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm from a January traffic stop by Beaver Township police where they found a gun in a car he was in.

Atkins was free on bond when he was arrested in that case.

He will be given credit for 82 days served in the county jail while awaiting the disposition of his case.

The sentence was recommended by the attorneys in the case and upheld by Judge D’Apolito.
