HOLTS SUMMIT — The city of Holts Summit will use a nearly $100,000 grant to implement programs and initiatives aimed at preventing violence against women, as well as promote an officer as a full-time investigator. The city announced on April 25 it received a two-year federal grant, totaling $98,288.

Bus company First Student is laying off 105 employees in Jefferson City. First Student made the decision after the Jefferson City School District decided not to renew its contract with the company, according to KOMU 8. The school district reportedly entered a new contract with Student Transportation of America.
