Community members will gather Thursday evening to commemorate the six month anniversary  of the Lewiston mass shooting .

The event, organized by the Maine Resiliency Center , was created at the request of victims and survivors to have the community join to remember and honor the memory of those killed, Director Danielle Parent said.

“What I hear from victims sometimes is that people feel forgotten and feel unseen,” Parent said. “It’s easy for many people in the community who may be not directly impacted to kind of move on with life and forget that this was something that is very much still a part of those who were present and those who lost loved ones.”

People will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Simard-Payne Memorial Park in Lewiston for brief remarks and moments of silence at the time of the shootings. They will honor the 18 people killed and 13 injured on Oct. 25 at Just-in-Time Recreation and Schemengees Bar and Grille.

The Maine Resiliency Center asked for everyone to wear blue in solidarity and for people who can’t attend to show their support by placing lights in their windows.
