Proposal would add properties to downtown Business Improvement District
More properties would pay into the downtown Business Improvement District, or BID, in a proposal being considered by the City Council. The change would remove current exemptions for industrial and purely multifamily properties in the BID, which were put in place years ago. Currently, 21 properties fall under that exemption.

Inside Sioux Falls School District's new CTE ag barn expansion
The mews and purrs of kittens, chattering of mice and guinea pigs and clucking of hens are all part of the ambience at the Sioux Falls School District’s new expansion at the Career and Technical Education Academy. And in the semesters to come, the mooing of cows, neighing of horses and bleating of goats may join in the symphony. The district finally finished construction on the CTE Academy’s new agricultural barn and classroom spaces for agricultural leadership , large animal science , plant science and horticulture , and small animal science , all of which require students to maintain an FFA (Future Farmers of America) agriscience fair project. Students like Izzy Huffman are working toward national FFA competitions this year. Outside of school and FFA work, she also raises chickens at home and sells their eggs on Facebook or at her mom’s school. “It doesn’t feel like school when you’re here,” Jillian DeHaven, a student in the FFA program, said of ag classes at the CTE Academy. Vern Eide Motorcars plans to move several of its businesses to the former Citibank campus, while still using only a fraction of the property’s total opportunity. An entity associated with Vern Eide acquired the property in northeast Sioux Falls last month. The 69-acre site at 701 E. 60th St. N. had been on the market for more than seven years.
