Sheriff deputies lend a hand for extra downtown Asheville foot patrol
Foot patrols in downtown Asheville on Friday and Saturday nights have gotten a boost thanks to extra manpower from deputies with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff’s deputies began working with the Asheville Police Department in January to provide ramped up coverage on weekend nights downtown. Since then, deputies have netted 210 contacts. Of those, 141 were “community contacts,” where deputies responded to concerns reported by members of the public about an observed behavior.
