Agents: 'Significant' amount of fentanyl found in Maine home after monthslong investigation

The MDEA had been investigating fentanyl being sold out of the home

Two people have been arrested at a home in Lee after a months-long investigation by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency. On Wednesday, MDEA agents, along with the Maine State Police Tactical Team and the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office, executed a search warrant at a home on Lee Road in Lee. Investigators say the MDEA's North Central Task Force had been investigating the sale of significant amounts of fentanyl out of the home, brought in by out-of-state traffickers and distributed through Penobscot County. The investigation included several undercover purchases of drugs from the home. The homeowner, Tom Severance, 27, was arrested, as well as Pedro Lugo, 36, of the Dominican Republic. They are both charged with Aggravated Drug Trafficking. Officials say the charges are due to the number of drugs seized. Officers seized about a half pound of fentanyl with a street value of $37,000, along with $20,000 in suspected drug proceeds. They also found several guns, including an illegal sawed-off shotgun. Severance and Lugo are both scheduled to make an initial court appearance on Friday in Bangor.
