Distinguished Gentlemen's Ride to set off from Camden on Sunday
CAMDEN — The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, which originated in Australia in 2012, was born of an idea to research and combat men’s health issues. The movement grew and has now spread globally, including to Camden. All rides are held simultaneously — this year on Sunday, May 19.
LETTER: School district deserves failing grade on newsletter, budget
I’ve been following the Daily Sentinel’s coverage of the Rome City School District’s attempts to build a budget. When I received the district’s budget newsletter, I was shocked to see that the district provided an “F” worthy effort. There were no descriptions of reasons for the increases nor any justification for any of the four propositions on the ballot.
Copper City Community Connection lauds latest PALA grads
ROME — The Copper City Community Connection, 305 E. Locust St., recognized its next group of members to achieve the Presidents Active Lifestyle Award. Members of the latest group to achieve the lofty PALA standard worked to achieve a variety of healthy eating and physical activity goals established by the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition over an eight-week period. The awardees tallied 150 minutes of physical activity each week, along with meeting the healthy eating goals by eating six of nine components of the healthy eating pattern, including such things as limiting added sugars, saturated fats or reducing sodium intake.
