City police were first called to 833 Chestnut Street at 12 p.m. on March 26, according to LCDES.

Within 35 minutes numerous fire-police agencies were called to the area and the surrounding streets were shuttered.

Officials called this a “police incident” but they have not confirmed what kind of incident this was, for example, a barricaded suspect, etc., but they do say "This is NOT a 'hostage situation' as reported by local media."

The shutdown covered an entire city block, from South Eighth to Tenth and Walnut to Cumberland streets.

Schools were also locked down.

The public was asked to avoid the area, but a shelter-in-place order was never issued.

"The incident is contained and there is currently no danger to the general public [...] We are actively working to bring this incident to a safe and timely resolution," the police stated in a release around 2:30 p.m.

After the police announced that the incident had ended and the roads had reopened, they clarified that "the investigation into this incident will remain open, more information will be released upon completion of the investigation."
