PEARL, Miss. (WLBT) – Friday night, one game stood between the Warren Central Vikings and a chance at still claiming the State Championship. Warren Central took on George County in game two of the 6A MHSAA State Championship series. The Vikings were fighting to tie the series and stay alive. George County claims 6A State Championship with Game 2 victory over Warren Central, 3-2
PEARL, Miss. (WLOX) - On Friday, the George County Rebels defeated the Warren Central Vikings to claim the 2024 MHSAA 6A Baseball State Championship. The game was a nailbiter, with the score staying stagnant at 2-2 for the final three innings before an RBI single saw George County take the lead in the top of the 7th. The Rebels would hang onto the lead in the final frame, allowing just one baserunner before collecting the three final outs of the game to complete the sweep.

The Mississippi Department of Transportation extended road work on U.S. 49 by Forrest General Hospital until June 28. Crews will be working between O’Ferral Street and Mamie Street from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the work week (Monday to Friday).
