LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Four people shot and killed a 19-year-old in “an explosion of gunfire” during a marijuana transaction, prosecutors said.

Ammir Foreman died in the shooting on May 14 near Nellis Boulevard and Stewart Avenue, prosecutors said. Police arrested Jeremiah Smith, 21, the day after the murder, records said. A Clark County grand jury later indicted Smith on charges including open murder and conspiracy murder.

Police had not publicly identified the three other co-conspirators as of Wednesday. Smith and three others allegedly conspired to rob Foreman during a marijuana transaction. After meeting outside of the east valley apartment complex, the meeting turned into “an explosion of gunfire,” prosecutors said.

Police located 45 spent cartridge cases at the murder scene, including several buried in the dirt under Foreman’s body, indicating “at least one of the shooters stood over him and finished him off,” prosecutors said.

Investigators believe Foreman fired two bullets from his weapon in self-defense with the four others firing the remaining 43. In an interview with police, Smith said he did not intend to kill Foreman and only shot into the air, documents said.

The homicide is the third in a series involving marijuana sales.

Last month, police arrested a man on charges of murder and conspiracy to commit in the 2023 killing of Kaito Thornton, 25. Police found Thorton dead in a car from multiple gunshot wounds on Oct. 22, 2023.

Police suspect Deaundra Talton, 21, agreed to pay Thorton $500 for marijuana and then killed him.

In a third case, several teenagers are accused of conspiring to murder Andre Bryant, 33, a marijuana delivery man killed in September 2023.

A judge will consider setting bail for Smith on Thursday. Smith’s attorney asked a judge to grant him house arrest after posting $100,000 bail.

There is no ‘first aid’ for 43 bullet holes. Momma should have done a better job raising her little boy.
