ICE arrests on-the-run Colombian convicted murderer near his Pittsfield home
Deportation officers arrested a Colombian fugitive in Pittsfield last week who was previously convicted of murder, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). In April 2014, the now-49-year-old unidentified man was arrested in Bucaramanga, Colombia, and charged with aggravated homicide, aggravated theft and unlawful possession of a weapon, ICE said in a press release. He was convicted of these charges in a Colombian criminal court in September 2016 and sentenced to 17 years in prison.
Mass. man charged in kidnapping, shooting denied bail
The Dalton, Massachusetts man accused of trying to chain up a man in his basement, leading to a fight and a shooting was denied bail after a hearing. Nicholas Lighten is accused of getting into a fight with the victim on May 9 at Ligthen’s home at Housatonic Street. Lighten then allegedly forced the victim to the basement, tried to restrain him and then shot him in the upper thigh, according to the Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office.
