    Regional Track: Several area athletes punch tickets to the state meet in Dayton

    Fairfield Union boys and girls take home titles: The Falcons’ postseason continues to be special as the boys and girls’ teams, not only won the Mid-State League-Buckeye Division and district championships, but on Saturday, they both placed first in the Division II regional meet at Muskingum University.

    The Lady Falcons finished with 72 points, beating the second-place team by 15 points, and the boys finished with 54 points to win the regional by six points over the second-place finisher.

    The Falcons set five school records during the regional meet, including the 400 relay team of Sarah Lepi, Kyla Gasser, Kaeda Miller, and Emma McCormick with a time of 50.57; the 3,200 relay team of Tyler Teal, Taylor Colopy, Abbie Pike, and Anna Conrad with a time of 9:35.79.; the 1,600 relay team of Lepi, Averey Cottrill, Pike, and Conrad with a time of 4:00.2; Conrad in the 800 (2:16.12), and Chayse Lipscomb in the 300 hurdles with a time of 37.36.

    Fairfield Union has several athletes who qualified for the state meet, including Christian Thompson (high jump); the girls 3,200 relay team; Anna Conrad in the 1,600 and 800; Cottrill in the 300 hurdles; Taylor Colopy in the 3,200; the girls' 400 relay; Gunnar George in the shot put; Chayse Lipscomb in the 110 and 300 hurdles; Nathan Phillips in the 1,600 and 3,200; Andrew Walton in the 3,200, and the 1,600 relay team of Mitchell Ortiz, Ethan Rooney, Hunter Ruff and Lipscomb.

    Lancaster boys place 8th at regional: After winning a district title a week ago, the Golden Gales placed at the Division I regional at Pickerington North.

    Scoring Placers for Lancaster: High Jump: Logen Justice - 3rd - 6' 6". Advances to State, Eli Roush - 6th - 6' 4"; 3,200 Relay: 8th - 8:01.98 (Brock Jarrett, Zane Schorr, Oliver Roush, Wes Taylor); 110 Hurdles: Brendon Simcox - 3rd - 14.71, Advances to State; 800 Relay - 7th - 1:28.73 (Gunner Richards, Devon Totten, Jason Silvia, Brendon Simcox); Wes Taylor - 4th - 1:54.26. Advances to State.

    Marisa Heil qualified for the state meet in the two events after placing second in the 1,600 (4:57.88) and third in the 800 (2:12.36) at the regional meet. Aubrey Beery punched her ticket to the state meet after a third-place showing in the discus (125-10).

    Fisher Catholic competes at regional: The Irish boys and girls competed at the Division III regional at Heath High School.

    Leading the Irish boys was senior Jack Gentile, who placed first in the 800 (1:55.14) as set a new school record, and punched his ticket to the state meet. The 3,200 relay team of Gentile, Landen Funk, Nathan Krile, and Reece Hagy-4th place-8:07.83, set a new school record and qualified for the state meet.

    Other Irish regional qualifiers were sophomore Nolan Garrabrant: High Jump- 6th place, sophomore Landen Funk: 800- 1:58.77-10th place, Daschel Neighbor: 300 hurdles-43.63-11th place, 110 high hurdles- 17.53-13th place, and Nathan Krile: 400-53.36 14th place.

    The Irish girls were led by Ruby Hagy, who placed fifth in the 800 (2:17.59) and set a new school record as she qualified for the state meet. The 3,200 relay team of Hagy, Eve Ohwoforwaraye, Maggie Murphy, and Charli Gillum- placed 9th- 10:25.26. Other Irish regional qualifiers were senior Abby Krooner-100 hurdles 16.91-7th place and 300 hurdlers -50.19-9th place; Junior Kierra Sexton placed 12th in the discus 103'4" with a personal record.
