Voters To Decide On Medical Cannabis In November Election
The Mercer County Fiscal Court has approved resolution 2024-5, which allows a medical cannabis option to be submitted to local voters. If the fiscal court takes no action, medical cannabis automatically becomes legal across the state on Jan. 1, 2025. According to Tim Sturgill, general counsel for the Kentucky Association of Cities, if the county took no action, medical cannabis businesses would be allowed to operate in the county once licensed by the state. County officials say the resolution will allow local voters to choose what happens in the general election on Tuesday, Nov.5.
