Upscale breakfast meets Greek-inspired dishes at the Morning Mule
GRANGER — To Morning Mule customers, the grinning mule logo might seem out of place in the upscale breakfast restaurant, but to its owner, Kat Anagnos, it’s a reminder not to always take everything so seriously. “I wanted it to be fun. Just because it’s upscale doesn’t mean it has to be so serious, and that was kind of my goal [to be] where people felt welcomed,” Anagnos said. “I wanted to diversify it.” The Morning Mule Breakfast Boutique, 1213 E. University Drive, is Anagnos' passion project after spending 26 years working for corporate restaurants, including McAllister’s Deli and Olive Garden, she said. “After a while, I decided maybe I should start doing my own thing now,” Anagnos said. “I always had a love for hospitality. We’re Greek, so taking care of people is kind of our natural [instinct]. And we feed people. It’s what we do.” Nearly a year ago in December, Anagnos’ new restaurant, the Morning Mule, opened its doors for the first time and quickly became a sanctuary for cherished family breakfast and boozy brunch dates. Greek breakfast flare The first weekend the Morning Mule was open could only be described as a slaughter, according to Anagnos.
