Jake Scholl powers Northridge football to NLC title over Warsaw
MIDDLEBURY — A play simply called "Circus" helped set off a circus-like, frenzied postgame celebration that the Northridge High School football program has not seen in years Friday, Oct. 16. The aforementioned pass lateral play on a fourth and 12 call from the Warsaw 21-yard line late in the game proved to make the difference in the biggest win in program history in years. The play, a pass from quarterback Jake Scholl to receiver Hayden Gorball, who lateraled to receiver Keivontre Copeland at the 12-yard line, resulted in a 20-yard gain to the Tiger one-yard line. Scholl, the star sophomore quarterback, then went in from a yard out on the next play with 3:08 left to cap a 37-30 wild Northern Lakes Conference win over Warsaw on Interra Field in front of a massive, raucous crowd on Senior Night for the regular-season finale. More: South Bend area IHSAA, MHSAA football Oct. 16 scores, updates "I have full trust in coach with the Circus play," Scholl said. "We knew this game would be a war. We knew we just had to keep grinding on offense and defense, and we did that." "We sat in the summer over at Trine University and
