California biotech experiments with treatment for Parkinson’s. Now it’s going public.
Aspen Neuroscience, a San Diego biotech developing a therapy to replace brain cells lost to Parkinson’s disease, announced plans Monday for an initial public offering. The company has been developing regenerative therapies since 2018. Its lead candidate, sasineprocel, is an experimental treatment that takes a patient’s own skin cells, reprograms them into stem cells and develops them into neuron precursors. Those cells are then transplanted into the brain to replace lost dopamine-producing neurons.

California aviation innovator Natilus wins government contract for its futuristic airplane
San Diego’s Natilus recently won a $3.5 million Air Force contract to test how its futuristic cargo plane could support military missions in the Pacific. The aviation innovator released designs of its sleek, blended-wing-body plane, which looks a bit like a manta ray. The first such plane is still being built.
