Having declared bankruptcy in February, SuperDeluxe shuttered its Lake Oswego location less than a year after opening it.

SuperDeluxe had five locations but closed its Lake Oswego and Northwest Portland shops while keeping its Southeast Portland, Bend and Sherwood locations.

Willamette Week first reported that SuperDeluxe, along with Boxer Ramen (which is also part of the MMMco. restaurant group), filed for bankruptcy in February.

The Lake Oswego location at 340 First Street in The Windward development downtown opened last summer and representative Angelo Lombardi said via email that the lack of a drive-thru option at the space made business a challenge.

“As SuperDeluxe negotiates its chapter 11 filing we needed to look at every aspect of the business and ensure we were in the best possible position to not just survive but thrive after coming out of bankruptcy,” Lombardi said in the email. “While we love the Lake Oswego market and would love to provide our Super Deluxe burgers, fries and nugs, this location wasn’t sustainable. Even with the help of delivery platforms and efficient carry out service, our locations need a drive through to be successful.”

Lombardi added that SuperDeluxe would be interested in reentering the Lake Oswego market at some point.
