EVANSTON, Ill. - A homeless man and convicted felon faces charges after Evanston police allegedly found him in possession of a handgun and heroin. According to authorities, on May 5, around 9 p.m., Evanston police responded to a call regarding an armed individual at a CVS Pharmacy located in the 100 block of Asbury Avenue. Letter to the editor: The problem with housing in Evanston
I just read your article on Evanston’s affordable housing and concur with what was said. However, we are tackling this problem after the fact. We allowed so many luxury apartments to be built in our city that there is basically no room for any kind of affordable housing. Plus, what may be affordable to one is not affordable to another. Those owners who included affordable apartments only provided one or two, and even those were not truly affordable.
