WATERTOWN, NY (June 11, 2024) – Each June we celebrate the end of slavery in the United States in 1865. Across the country, family and friends gather to celebrate and learn more about the history and experience of African Americans before and after slavery. Juneteenth is celebrated annually on June 19th and WPBS is marking the occasion with programs that tell the history of the holiday and show the joy of communities coming together in celebrations of independence. WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - Nococon, or North Country Comic Con, is a place where you can catch sword fights with Spiderman, live wrestling, and cool cosplay. Weather alert issued for flooding in Cayuga and Oswego counties Thursday afternoon
The National Weather Service issued a report at 12:24 p.m. on Thursday for flooding until 2 p.m. for Cayuga and Oswego counties. "A cold front slowly moving across New York state is pushing a broad swath of heavy showers into the Finger Lakes and eastern Lake Ontario region this afternoon. Torrential downpours may cause localized flooding in spots through mid-afternoon, especially in low-lying and poor drainage areas. There is also risk that embedded thunderstorms that develop ahead of this cold front could become strong enough to produce localized damaging wind gusts to 60 mph. Those with outdoor activities should keep an eye to the sky and keep abreast of updated forecasts and possible warnings. Never attempt to drive through any flooded roadways," according to the weather service.

Watertown statue getting $24K facelift
WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - Important repairs are underway to the Roswell P. Flower statue in downtown Watertown. It’s a $24,000 project that’ll take a week to do. The 120-year-old statue sits on Washington Street. At 18 feet tall, Roswell P. Flower, the only native northern New Yorker to have been elected governor, watches over the city.
