$57k bond for man arrested for eluding police, possession

MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – A man was arrested in Laceys Spring on Monday after the sheriff’s office said he fled from deputies.

Deputies executed several warrants for 30-year-old Justin Paul Oakes on Monday, and he was arrested at a home in Laceys Spring.

According to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, over the weekend Oakes had fled from deputies, first in a vehicle, then on foot from a safety checkpoint.

He is being charged with reckless driving, improper lane usage, failure to signal, failure stop sign, driving while revoked/suspended/otherwise unlicensed, unlawful possession drug paraphernalia, attempting to elude a police officer (felony) and unlawful possession/receipt of a controlled substance. Oakes also has two warrants, no tag and driving while suspended.

Oakes is currently being held at the Morgan County Jail on a $57,300 bond.
