Downtown Seattle office leasing hits 8-year high
Downtown Seattle's battered office market is showing signs of life after years of declining occupancy, though full recovery likely remains a way off. Why it matters: The gains offer a hopeful sign for one of Seattle's most troubled economic sectors, which has struggled to recover from the pandemic and remains a weak spot in the city's economy . Driving the news: Downtown Seattle gained 300,000 square feet of occupied office space in the third quarter, its first quarterly increase since 2021, according to commercial real estate firm CBRE . The downtown vacancy rate dipped to 35.4%, down half a percentage point from the previous quarter. Across the Puget Sound region, occupied office space increased by 514,000 square feet, marking the fourth consecutive quarterly gain, per CBRE. New lease commitments in Seattle's traditional office core in the second quarter totaled more than 550,000 square feet, making it the strongest quarter for new leasing since 2018, according to Elliott Krivenko of CoStar . Case in point: AI company Anthropic recently expanded its Seattle footprint to about 163,000 square feet. Zoom in: Companies are gravitating toward high-end offices with amenities such as conference rooms, event spaces and fitness centers that can help attract

This Tiny Seattle Shop Stocks Japanese Notebooks And Pens Kids Won’t Find Anywhere Else
A stationery shop near a famous Seattle market has its own binder-making station, and that detail alone sold me. Kids can build a binder instead of just grabbing one off a shelf. The shelves hold Korean and Asian-inspired notebooks, washi tape, fun pens, and more stickers than seems reasonable. Some...

Real estate information is everywhere. Interpretation is the advantage.
Seattle-area Realtors are being asked to do more than ever. Clients want guidance on rates, pricing, inventory, affordability, neighborhood shifts, new construction and the right time to move. At the same time, buyers and sellers have more information than ever, but not necessarily more clarity. That is where the “impact...

It’s not often that physical locations seen in Mark Frost and David Lynch’s Twin Peaks go on the market. There have been a handful over the years, and each time I dream of owning them. The latest is the famed Bookhouse seen during the first two seasons of the groundbreaking television series. I’ve previously discussed the location of this approximately 412-square-foot unit in Fall City, Washington. Thanks to fellow Bookhouse Boy and Twin Peaks Blog author Karl Reinsch, we now have a look inside.
