Plenty of sun and milder temps on Thursday

WHAT WE ARE TRACKING: Dry and milder conditions Thursday before periods of stormy, windy, and wet conditions are expected Friday through Monday. Heavy rainfall and severe thunderstorms are possible during this period.

NEXT 24 HRS: Some passing high clouds are expected overnight as winds turn southeast. As a result, temperatures will stay above freezing for most locations, except for areas south of La Crosse. Plenty of sunshine is expected on Thursday, with some increase in clouds as we move towards sunset. With winds out of the south, temperatures will climb well into the 60s, with a few locations hitting the 70-degree mark. Cloud cover and winds increase Thursday night as showers lift northeast towards the region by Friday's AM commute.

LOOKING AHEAD: Two main systems bring showers (or periods of rain) and thunderstorms Friday through Monday. Currently, Friday/Friday night and Sunday/Sunday night are the best opportunities for significant, widespread rainfall. Saturday is the best chance to see some dry periods, with temperatures potentially approaching 80 degrees, depending on cloud cover. Additionally, Sunday appears to be the best chance for strong, maybe severe, thunderstorms, although some strong thunderstorms are possible Saturday afternoon. Although dry conditions return by Tuesday, low showers and thunderstorms chances are expected for the second half of the week, along with temperatures in the 70s .
