UW-L students perform in Austin Studio Limits

LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- UW-La Crosse students tested their vocal ranges at the Austin Studio Limits concert Tuesday evening at the Annett Recital Hall in the Lowe Center for Arts.

The free performance was an opportunity for music majors and minors to showcase their talents through songs and storytelling.

The show featured several pieces of music from different operas and musical theatre--ranging from Mozart to songs from the Broadway show "Waitress."

The director of the show says this performance was a unique opportunity for students to grow as vocalists.

"Students often get a chance to sing solo and they often get a chance to sing in choirs, but they don't often get a chance to perform stage works where they are learning about a character, character development and how to interact with each other on stage, blocking and costuming and such," said assistant professor of voice and choir at UW-L. Kourtney Austin.

Austin added that the most exciting part of the night is to see the students have fun on stage portraying different characters.
