WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - Police who were led on high-speed chases in Carolina Beach, not once, but twice in one week are speaking out about pursuit protocol, and procedures. The first one happened on Monday, April 22. The pursuit started after the driver, Briggs Smith got into a confrontation with police.

Alligator spotted in Caswell Beach; residents asked to contact officials if they spot it
CASWELL BEACH, N.C. (WECT) - An alligator was spotted on Caswell Beach Monday and Tuesday morning, according to the Town of Caswell Beach. “Yesterday, town administration requested that police notify the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) because our officers are not authorized, trained, and equipped to handle dangerous wildlife. Again, if the alligator is spotted, please keep your distance and urge others to do the same as well,” a town announcement states.
