A new historical fiction novel from a Missouri author explores the mystery of a catastrophic event that damaged the West Plains community nearly a century ago. "The Flower Sisters" by St. Louis-based author Michelle Collins Anderson, was released April 23. Patricia Rockstroh, a dog breeder in the town of Koshkonong, doing business as Penny Lane Cocker Spaniels, has been charged with a combined total of 39 counts of the misdemeanor charges of “intentional improper animal shelter space,” and “intentional improper shelter ventilation,” according to information provided on the Wisconsin Circuit Court Access website.

Dozens of emergency responders conduct 5-day search for drowning victim at Warren Bridge
Photo submitted Ozark County and statewide emergency responders spent five days searching the flooded waters of Bryant Creek at Warren Bridge last week looking for Pottersville resident Brian Richardson, who had driven off the bridge during flooded conditions sometime around midnight April 29. The responders recovered his truck and pulled it from the water the Tuesday around noon, as shown in this photo. Richardson’s body was found in Bryant Creek Saturday.
As discount retailer shutters stores, rural Missouri towns lose grocery options
Residents of several small towns in Missouri may face an uncertain future with grocery shopping as Dollar Tree plans to close 600 stores this year, including some in Missouri. Dollar Tree, which owns Family Dollar, announced in March that it would close 600 stores in 2024, and another 370 stores over the next few years. Though the company has not clearly defined what stores will be affected, at least three Missouri locations are part of the group being closed.
