    Killingly High senior shines at powerlifting meet: how many world records did she set?

    Killingly High School senior Sherrie Simoneau set several records for her weight class and age group at the 2024 IPA Cincinnati Women’s Pro/Am on April 13. The Pro/Am is the largest women’s powerlifting meet in the world. Simoneau competed in the amateur event.

    Here are her results from the meet:

    • Squat: 400 pounds (beating her personal record by 55 pounds and setting a world record for her weight class and age group).
    • Bench Press: 180 pounds (beating her personal record by 20 pounds).
    • Deadlift: 400 pounds (beating her personal record by 35 pounds and setting a world record for her weight class and age group).
    • Total: 980 pounds (beating her personal record by 110 pounds and setting a world record for her weight class and age group).

    “She killed it,” said Simoneau’s powerlifting coach, Mike Behrle. “She came in first place in her division."
