Maui 5K to support Maui Nui schools, including those impacted by wildfires
Maui Ocean Center will present the 13th annual Maui 5K from 7 to 9 a.m. Sunday, March 3, 2024. Registration is now open, with entry fees set to increase Dec. 15. Participants will have the option to take part in a timed 5K run or an untimed 1-mile run/walk. For those who can’t attend, a virtual run or walk is also offered. Proceeds from the event go directly to the community, providing funding for local schools.

Tennis Facility Will Close at End of 2023
The Royal Lahaina Tennis Ranch will close its 11-court site at the conclusion of the calendar year. John and Cynthia Monnier, the facility’s operators since 1995, made the decision recently in light of the Aug. 8 Lahaina wildfire. With the Royal Lahaina Resort’s lodging facilities currently being used for FEMA employees and Lahaina families displaced by the fire — a circumstance that will stretch well into 2024 — the Monniers’ decision had been becoming more and more clear since the fire.
