IGUANA NEST CREATES WEIRD SINKHOLE IN KEYS ROAD
A concerned citizen recently sent Monroe County Mayor Holly Raschein a note of concern regarding a “weird sinkhole” in the road in her Key Largo neighborhood. Monroe County Roads and Bridges staff found quite an interesting culprit — an invasive iguana tunneled underneath the asphalt to create a nesting area.

High-octane enthusiasts made their way to Town Square mall on the morning of April 20 to vie for the top prize in the Keys Young Professionals Network’s inaugural ‘Be Like Mike’ summer car show and benefit. Named after the late Monroe County commissioner and Islamorada restaurateur Mike Forster, proceeds from the event supported United Way’s Feed the Keys summer initiative for local families. Support from Centennial Bank, Coca-Cola, Seafarer Realty and the Middle and Lower Keys Association of Realtors helped 25 show entrants and dozens of visitors raise $789 to go with 200 pounds of donated food.
