Groundbreaking next month for new townhomes near Kentwood

GAINES TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Work is getting underway on a new development of townhomes south of Kentwood.

Eden Forest Townhomes will go in along 60th Street SE near Kalamazoo Avenue in Gaines Township.

Orion Construction, which is building the development, said initial buildings will include 114 two-and three-bed units with attached garages. Another 38 units will be added later. The plan is to start leasing the townhomes in the fall of 2024.

Orion said that the goal is to create a “sense of community.” The neighborhood will be walkable, with paths, a gazebo, a playground and a basketball court.

Aerial images released by Orion show the site next to Kentwood Community Church has been cleared.

A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for May 21.
