Creston police reports 2 weekend arrests
(Creston) -- Creston authorities report a pair of arrests from over the weekend in unrelated incidents. The Creston Police Department says 42-year-old Nicholas Allen Foltz of Mount Ayr was arrested shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday for carrying a weapon while intoxicated and OWI 1st offense. Authorities say the arrest occurred at the Creston-Union County Law Enforcement Center.

Gov. Reynolds announces Approval of Presidential Major Disaster Declaration
(Des Moines) Gov. Kim Reynolds announced today that President Biden has approved Iowa’s request for a Major Disaster Declaration. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) are now authorized to provide assistance to Clarke, Harrison, Mills, Polk, Pottawattamie, Ringgold, Shelby, and Union Counties that were impacted by severe weather on April 26, 2024.

Iowa woman spots rare horseshoe vortex cloud
CRESTON, Iowa — An Iowa woman recently spotted an interesting cloud and shared a photograph of it with KCCI meteorologist Zane Satre. (See the photo below.) Satre says the cloud that caught Mary Moore's eye in the skies southeast of Creston was a rare horseshoe vortex. (Creston) Creston Police arrested 56-year-old Jorge Luis Gonzalez, of Lorimor, Iowa, at the Creston Vet Clinic on a Union County Warrant for 5th-degree Theft. Officers transported Gonzalez to the Union County Jail. Authorities released Gonzalez after he posted the $300 cash bond.
