    One man arrested after shots fired in Kennewick Wednesday morning

    KENNEWICK, Wash. -- KPD said a weapons complaint ended with one man arrested on suspicion of domestic violence assault.

    Joseph Cruz, 21, was arrested on suspicion of assault DV, and on an outstanding warrant and was charged with assault after kicking an officer.

    KPD responded to the call for help just before 1 a.m. Wednesday morning in the area of Kenwood Park.

    According to police, the caller reported seeing a man and woman fighting and heard gunshots moments later.

    According to KPD, when officers arrived to the scene a vehicle left the area but police were able to find evidence of gunshots.

    Police said just after 2 a.m. police were dispatched to the area of east 6th Avenue and south Gum Street for another fight between a man and a woman. The vehicle also matched the description of the previous call.

    According to police, officers were able to arrest Cruz at the second scene and took him to an area hospital for medical clearance.

    While at the hospital, officers said Cruz kicked an officer which added the assault charge.

    KPD said the weapons complaint is still being investigated and the condition of the victim is not known. The second victim had minor injuries but did not need medical attention.
