KENNEWICK, Wash. -- The Kennewick Fire Department said no one was hurt in a RV fire Wednesday afternoon.

It happened just after 3 p.m. when fire agencies responded to what originally was a report of a car fire in the 1300 block of Cascade Street.

Fire officials said once fire agencies knew it was a recreation vehicle (RV) additional firefighting resources were requested. It was noted that Franklin County Fire District 3 responded with a water tender due to limited fire hydrant access in the area. Benton Public Utility District also responded to monitor electric utilities.

When fire crews arrived, fire officials said firefighters saw flames and smoke coming from a manufactured home next to the RV and other outbuildings.

Fire officials said firefighters put out the fire by spraying water from the outside of the home while other firefighters checked to see if anyone was in the home, which the home was empty at the time of the fire.

According to fire crews, the fire was under control within 29 minutes and the home was a total loss.

Fire officials said two crews remained on scene to monitor hotspots and to overhaul the building.

Investigators said the fire is believed to have been caused by exposure to outdoor burning on the property.
