The Caldwell school community is mourning the loss of former student Damarion Andrews who passed away Tuesday, May 30th, after a tragic accident on his senior trip in Florida last week.
Cleo Head announced as the new Head Football Coach for Caldwell Parish High School
CALDWELL PARISH (KTVE/KARD) — Officials of Caldwell Parish High School have announced that Cleo Head will be the school’s new Head Football Coach. Head returns to the school after his stints at West Ouachita High School and Ouachita Christian School.
Jackson Parish 4-H Shooting Sports Banquet set for June 2nd
The Jackson Parish 4-H Chapter will hold their annual Shooting Sports Banquet on Friday, June 2nd, commemorating the tremendous showing turned in by local participants at regional and state competitions held earlier this year. The event will be held in the gymnasium of Gracepoint Christian Academy, which is located at 1490 South Hudson Avenue in Jonesboro on the campus of the First Assembly of God Church.
Free vaccinations available at Jackson Parish Health Unit
Let’s Get Vaccinated! That is the message that Ana Deloach VanEaton, Communications Coordinator for Regions 7 & 8 of the Office of Public Health is trying to convey to north Louisiana residents. To help make that possible, free Covid-19, Flu, and Monkeypox vaccinations are being offered a the Jackson Parish Health Unit, located at 228 Bond St. in Jonesboro, Wednesday – Friday (May 31 – June 2 during times of 8am-4:30pm. Seven residents of Jackson Parish has been named to the Northwestern State University (NSU) President’s and Dean’s List for the 2023 spring semester. Students on the President’s List must be enrolled full-time at Northwestern and have a grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 while Dean’s List honorees must have a 3.5 – 3.99 GPA.

Police Jury deals with a controversial issue at Tuesday meeting
The meeting of the Jackson Parish Police Jury this past Tuesday was not your normal, run-of-the-mill kind of meeting. Most agendas contain mostly governmental issues and concerns. This one had an item attached that on the surface asked for a simple action to be taken but put each juror on the spot to take either a conservative or liberal stance about a controversial social issue.

LPSO opens new substation, easier access for Olla residents and visitors
OLLA, La. (KNOE) - The LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office opened a new substation in Olla last week, according to Sheriff Scott Franklin. It’s been quite a journey for the department. Nearly four years ago, the sheriff’s office began building its new substation in Olla on Highway 165 North. They were done with construction until the 2021 ice storm forced them to demolish the building and start over.
