Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker recently found himself as the target of some serious backlash following a graduation speech he gave to the 2024 graduating class at Benedictine College.

Butker's speech, which many found to be misogynistic, homophobic and offensive on several levels, had fans questioning how his Chiefs teammates and NFL colleagues would react.

On Wednesday, superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes finally broke his silence on the matter.

Though he doesn't agree with some of what Butker had to say, Mahomes defended his kicker's character.

"I've known him for seven years. I judge him by the character he shows every day and that's a good person... We're not always going to agree. He said certain things I don't agree with," Mahomes said, via Nate Taylor of The Athletic.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell also issued a statement regarding Butker's speech.

“We have over 3,000 players. We have executives around the league. They have diversity of opinions and thoughts just like America does. That’s something we treasure," Goodell said, via NFL insider Tom Pelissero.
