This Utah Public High School is Perfect for Winter Athletes as School Year Runs from April to November
A traditional school calendar starts in the Fall, runs through winter and spring, and ends at the start of summer. If you or your child has aspirations to be a snow sport athlete, this calendar takes significant time away from prime training season in the winter. However, there is an option for those who prefer to be in school during the skiing offseason and be able to have no school from December to late April. That option is the Winter Sports School in Park City, Utah.
Wasatch High School track is renamed to honor winning coach
Family, friends and former athletes recently gathered to dedicate Wasatch High School’s Tolley Track to a local legend. It’s ironic that when the winningest track-and-field coach in Wasatch High School’s history moved to Heber in 1964, there wasn’t even a track. But one of Coach Verle Tolley’s many legacies was ditching the school’s use of the cinder track at the county fairgrounds and replacing it with a modern rubberized field of dreams at the high school.
Ridgelines: It’s hard to say goodbye
The early morning sun rising over the High Uintas cast shadows onto the rock-hard corduroy. A feeling of joy came over me as I set an edge in the snow, linking arcs down the frozen mountainside. It’s springtime in the Wasatch!. But after 158 straight days, the lifts have...

Second Annual Uninvited Invitational Featured 70 Athletes for Largest Prize Purse In Women’s Snowboard History
When Jess Kimura self-produced The Uninvited back in 2018, she pushed over the first domino of a women’s snowboarding movement. She successfully highlighted female athletes that were up-and-coming and in some cases relatively unknown to the larger snowboarding community, which called for three more films in the coming years. In 2023, The Uninvited Invitational took that concept and turned the movement into a live ,in-person event. Through the years, it’s launched multiple careers for girls, women, and non-binary riders who needed a place to shine. And with the live event returning this year for a second run, The Uninvited has now fully evolved from a once-revolutionary film concept to a contest offering the largest prize purse in all of women’s snowboarding.
