HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Oahu community and visitors spent their Sunday at the “I Love Kailua” Town Party in Windward.

Kailua’s biggest party called for officials to close roads and sidewalk areas. On Sunday, traffic was diverted from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Hahani St. to Kuulei Rd. to allow for party-goers to wander about the streets safely.

Attendees were able to enjoy different food booths featuring local favorites such as shave ice, malasadas, plate lunches and more. In addition, guests were able to explore over 75 different vendors who displayed their art, clothes, and especially plants.

In addition to eating and shopping, the block party featured non-stop live center-stage entertainment and a Kamaaina Kids keiki fun zone.

The whole event was made possible by the nonprofit Lani-Kailua Outdoor Circle, which is committed to “enhancing the livability of Kailua through beautification, tree planting, environmental advocacy, and educational outreach.”

In keeping with our mission of planting for the future, proceeds from this year’s Town Party will support our ongoing landscape maintenance and street tree planting projects in Kailua, which most recently, in January 2024, now include the Kailua Central Triangle, in the heart of Kailua. It is a focal point enjoyed by residents and visitors alike, and we are proud to provide this service to the community.

    Diane Harding, LKOC President

Officials said all proceeds from the party go back towards the community through beautification and tree-planting projects. For more information, visit LKOC’s website.
