Jonesborough to give away 200 tree seedlings on Arbor Day

JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (WJHL) – The Town of Jonesborough plans to celebrate Arbor Day with a tree planting and by giving away 200 free tree seedlings.

According to a news release from the town, an event will take place at 10 a.m. on Arbor Day, Friday, April 26. Town leaders and the Tree and Townscape Board will meet at the Jonesborough Community Garden at 200 E Sabine Dr.

A fringe tree will be planted in the community garden.

Anyone attending the event is asked to park in the parking lot of the Washington County/Jonesborough Library.

In addition to planting the tree in the garden, the town will also be handing out 200 tree seedlings at the event.

The town is celebrating 20 years of having Tree City USA status, which is given to communities that meet the standards of properly managing urban forestry.
