SHETLER REQUESTS CHARGES DROPPED DUE TO SPEEDY TRIAL VIOLATION
Ray Shetler, Jr., who is charged with assaulting an officer as he was being arrested on an outstanding warrant in 2021 in Seward is asking that charges against him be dropped. Shetler was arrested after State Police and County Sheriffs deputies tried to arrest him at a mobile home in Seward for an outstanding warrant for failure to appear at a probation revocation hearing. Officers found him hiding under a folded futon in a mobile home in Seward, and as they were taking him into custody, he allegedly head-butted a sheriff’s deputy and fought with other officers. The deputy suffered head and shoulder injuries that required medical treatment. Shetler was also injured when he was shot in the eye with a taser.
