E. coli bacteria detected in Johnson Lake
KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - Johnson lake has tested positive for E. coli bacteria above the risk-based guidelines, according to the Two Rivers Public Health Department. TRPHD said when E. coli bacteria levels test above 235 colonies/100 ml a Health Alert is not issued. However, conditions are at a higher risk to human health when swimming. Concentrations of bacteria change rapidly based on many factors, including weather condition, therefore signs will not be posted with these higher levels. TRPHD recommends everyone use their own judgement when considering recreational activities at Johnson Lake.

Founded in 1976 as the Tri-County Hospital, the Lexington Regional Health Center (LRHC) is now a political subdivision with voting stakes in Dawson and Gosper counties. The facility is a 25-bed critical access hospital.
Elwood man accused of injury deputy with knife arraigned after multiple psychological evaluations
LEXINGTON — A Elwood man accused of injuring a deputy with a knife has been arraigned in Dawson County District Court following multiple psychological evaluations. Jeremy Bendler, 36, has been charged with assault of an officer, a Class 2 felony, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, Class 2 felony and a second subsequent offense of resisting arrest, a Class 3A felony.

Broncos qualify in three events at record-setting district

Kearney murder suspect headed to trial court
KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - A Kearney murder suspect is headed to trial court almost two and a half years after a Lexington man was shot and killed. Romeo Chambers, 27, appeared in Buffalo County Court Friday for an evidence hearing. His judge found probable cause and transferred the case to District Court for possible trial. Chambers is charged with second degree murder, two counts of use of a firearm to commit a felony, one court of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, one count of first degree assault and one count of second degree assault.
