JERSEY CITY, NJ- Jersey City officials are contemplating allowing a neighboring school board to construct a sidewalk over a portion of land owned by the City in the Township of Lyndhurst.

The Lyndhurst Board of Education is currently seeking to construct a ten-foot wide pedestrian walkway on a portion of the Jersey City Municipal Utilities Authority (JCMUA)’s property along Marin Avenue.

The easement they are seeking would allow temporary access during the walkway’s construction, and would then provide permanent access to the walkway itself for up to 15 years.

According to the ordinance, that easement would come at no cost to the City. The Lyndhurst BOE will need to utilize services of their own to construct the walkway.
