Good Vibes Rafting and Tubing, LLC, plans to begin offering rafting and tubing on the French Broad River by the end of next week. This is the first commercial rafting and tubing operation to open on the French Broad in Cocke County. LifeStar helicopter lands on I-40 in Cocke County after crash
NEWPORT, Tenn. (WVLT) - A LifeStar helicopter responded to I-40 near Newport after a crash closed the interstate Tuesday afternoon, according to Tennessee Department of Transportation representative Mark Nagi. At this time, the only information from TDOT confirms that a motorcycle was involved in the crash, which closed the interstate.

NEWPORT — Memorial Day is a federal holiday set aside for remembering the military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. It is observed on the last Monday in May. Federal, state and local government offices are closed in observance of the holiday. Here is a rundown of what will be closed on Monday in observance of Memorial Day: The Cocke County Courthouse and Annex will be closed. The convenience centers and the landfill will be closed.Newport City Hall will be closed.
