JANESVILLE, Wis. (WTVO) — Janesville Police have arrested Logan Barclay, 23, who is accused of killing his ex-girlfriend and leaving her body along the Peace Trail bike path.

According to police, the victim’s body was found Wednesday, April 17th around 12:42 p.m. by a passerby, in the Fisher Creek area, near South Afton Road and West Rockport Drive.

Police said that information on the woman’s manner of death would not be released due to the ongoing investigation.

Detectives were able to identify the 22-year-old woman the following day and looked at Barclay, with whom the victim had a prior dating relationship, as the suspect.

Police Chief Chad Pearson said a search warrant was executed at his home in the 3100 block of Rockport Drive at 9:44 p.m. on Thursday.

Based on evidence found in the home, police arrested Barclay on charges of First Degree Murder.

Pearson said the incident was not random and was isolated between two people, and there was no threat to the public.
