Bulldogs finish first in Rachel Nesseth Memorial Invite

Tuesday evening, the Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton track and field team traveled to Kenyon-Wanamingo H.S. to compete in the Rachel Nesseth Memorial Invitational. Both the boys and girls teams finished first in the meet with the boys scoring 187.5 points and the girls scoring 179.25 points.

Highlights for the girls came early and often with Katelyn Olson finishing first in the 100 meter dash, posting a time of 13.90. Lilly Strauss also finished second in the event with a time of 13.92.

Olson earned second in the 200m dash with a time of 27.96 and in the 300m hurdles, Onikia Herme finished fourth with a time of 54.80. In the 400m run, Ashlyn Wolff finished third with a time of 1:07.70.

MaKenzie Westphal finished first in the 3200m run, posting a time of 13:07.49. In the discus, Aubrey Weedman finished fourth with a top throw of 79 feet and six inches.

In the long jump, Lilly Strauss finished second with a leap of 16’3.5” while Presley James finished fourth with a mark of 15’1”. Madeline Hoehn finished third in the pole vault with a top clear of 7’ and Sarah Bulman matched the mark, finishing fourth as a result of number of attempts.

Weedman finished first in the shot put with a top throw of 32’9.5” while Autumn Thissen (29’9.5”) and Caitlin Kleve (27’) finished third and fourth. In the triple jump, Navaeh Weimert finished second with a top leap of 32’2”.

The 4x100m relay team of B. Bure, Weimert, Olson and Strauss finished first with a time of 54.03. The 4x800m relay team of A. Wolff, L. White, K. Krause and M. Westphal set a meet and track record with a time of 11:11.92, finishing first.

Boys highlights began with Isaiah Berndt finishing second in the 100m dash with a time of 11.95 as Daulton Bauer finished third with a time of 11.99. In the 110m hurdles, Kaden Baker finished first with a time of 18.53 and Leighlan Harris finished third with a time of 22.40.

In the 200m dash, Bauer finished third with a time of 23.94 and Berndt finished fourth with a time of 24.01. Kaden Baker finished third in the 300m hurdles with a time of 49.77.

Memphis James earned third in the 400m dash with a time of 56.26 and Derek Gustafson finished fourth in the 1600m run with a time of 5:22.45. Gustafson then finished first in the 3200m run with a time of 12:54.65 with Luke Cahill (12:54.68) and Charles Adams (15:37.67) finished second and third.

In the discus, Ethan Born finished fourth with a top throw of 98’ even. Ryan Kronbach finished third in the high jump with a clear of 5’10” while Memphis James finished fourth at 5’8”.

Kronbach then finished first in the long jump with a leap of 21’1” while Alex James finished second with a mark of 19”11.75”. In the shot put, Ethan Born finished first with a top throw of 40’1.5” while Memphis James finished first in the triple jump with a leap of 39’0.75” and Daulton Bauer finished third with a mark of 37’6.5”.

In the 4x100m relay race, the team of A. James, I. Berndt, D. Bauer and R. Kronbach set a facility and meet record with a time of 45.71 to finish first. The 4x800m relay team of C. Hoehn, T. Mulder, L. Cahill and A. Klevel then finished second with a time of 9:50.34.

JWP track and field will return to action Tuesday, April 16, when the team travels to Maple River to compete in an invitational with events scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
