JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — It is that time of year again when spring is upon us and so is spring cleaning but don’t fret, the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office is here to help!

The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office will be participating in the DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. This is a day when you can drop off any unused medication to be destroyed with no questions asked.

Go ahead and clean out that medicine cabinet with confidence and drop off those unused medications at one of our partner drop-off locations. The event is on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 10 am to 2 pm. The locations will be at the CVS located at 1309 Highway 210 in Sneads Ferry and Walgreens at 3069 Richlands Highway in Jacksonville.

Deputies will be at each location to take possession of your items. If you want to turn in the medication in the original prescription bottle, please do so but we encourage you to remove the label or mark out the information on the bottle. For liquids, please keep those sealed in the original bottle.

If you can’t make it to one of our partner locations, there is a drop box in the lobby of the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office that is available for drop-off during office hours any day of the week. For any questions, please contact Meredith Jones at the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office at 910-989-4035.
