Jacksonville, AL – Jacksonville State University (JSU) is gearing up to host its annual Jazz Festival on Friday, April 19th, promising a full day of musical immersion and education for students and directors alike. Held at the Mason Hall Recital Hall from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, the festival culminates in a concert at 4:00 pm featuring acclaimed Hammond B-3 Organist, Pat Bianchi, alongside JSU Jazz Ensemble I.

The festival aims to foster a positive educational and musical experience in jazz, facilitating maximum interaction between students, directors, and guest clinicians throughout the day. Notably non-competitive, the event prioritizes learning and growth, with clinicians offering written and verbal feedback to participants.

Distinguished clinicians leading the event include Sallie Vines White from Hoover High School, boasting a background in Music Education and Psychology from Anderson University and Music Education from Indiana University. Joining her is Fritz Siler, who holds degrees in Music Education from Auburn University.

Awards will be granted to outstanding individual performers from each ensemble, and participating schools will receive commemorative plaques along with videos of their performances. This inclusive approach ensures that everyone involved in the festival walks away with valuable insights and memories to cherish.
