Sizzling Summer Preview: Highs to hit the 90s as storms loom
Wednesday afternoon update: The stage is set for a classic summer pattern, complete with the potential for afternoon thunderstorms. Starting off with Thursday, high pressure starts to loosen its grip on the area, and we will see a bit more moisture in the air. It is going to feel a bit muggier. This will help fuel a stray shower or storm during the afternoon. However, most spots will remain dry. Highs will rise to near 90 degrees, while nighttime lows will feel a bit warmer in the upper 60s. Going into Friday, there will be an increased chance of a few afternoon showers and storms. Highs will be similar, with readings climbing to near 90 degrees. As we head into Memorial Day weekend, expect the heat to stick around, with highs in the low 90s. And keep an eye on the sky each afternoon; those storms might pack a punch!

Augusta coroner ID's woman, child found dead on Chase Creek Court as mother, son
Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen this week released the identities of two bodies found over the weekend. Tiara Jennings, 30, and her infant son were found dead by Richmond County Sheriff's Office deputies inside a house on the 1600 block of Chase Creek Court off Gordon Highway on Saturday. They were pronounced dead at 7:05 p.m. An autopsy has been scheduled for both.

Inmate slain at Augusta Medical Prison; guard fired and charged
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - An inmate died Saturday in an altercation at the Augusta State Medical Prison, and a correctional officer was fired and charged in the incident.
