City of Irrigon to Receive $1.7 Million in Funding for Infrastructure
The city of Irrigon is set to receive $1.7 million as part of a Senate bill the Legislature passed during the short session earlier this year, according to a press release. The $1.705 million in funding — through SB 1530 — will go toward infrastructure including water, sewer and stormwater. Increasing infrastructure should help support more housing, the release said. Gov. Tina Kotek signed the bill into law on April 17.
Book drive underway
The Oregon Women Lawyers Coffee Creek Book Drive will take place May 13-29. There will be collection boxes near the court clerks’ offices in each of the 7th Judicial District Courthouses (511 Washington St.,3rd Floor, The Dalles; 309 State St, Hood River; 221 S. Oregon St, Condon, 500 Court St., Wasco, and 701 Adams St, Fossil).

“Fill the Combat Boot” event in Northeast Oregon raises $3,100 for local vets
NORTHEAST OREGON — Hundreds of people recently opened their hearts and wallets to support local veterans. The first-annual “Fill the Combat Boot” event was held in La Grande, Pendleton, Hermiston and Umatilla. More than two dozen volunteers collected money at the four locations with boots for people to drop cash in.
