Pacers Coach Rick Carlisle Ripped for Another Late-Game NBA Playoffs Blunder

The Indiana Pacers and Boston Celtics are heading to overtime in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals this Tuesday night.

Down by three points with just seconds remaining in regulation, Boston's Jaylen Brown nailed a clutch three-pointer to tie the game at 117-117. After a strong defensive stand by the Celtics on the ensuing Indiana possession, neither team held an advantage through four quarters of play.

Some Pacers fans, however, appear to be upset with head coach Rick Carlisle over his continued unwillingness to foul when up by three points late in the game. It nearly cost Indiana a win over Milwaukee in the first round of the East playoffs - and it might've cost the Pacers a regulation win over Boston tonight.

"An unbelievable pass by Jrue Holiday to Jaylen Brown in the corner, Pascal Siakam has a chance to foul – but doesn't – and Brown fires in a missile to tie this game with 5.7 seconds to go," ESPN's Tim Bontemps tweeted.

"Indiana, once again, does not foul up 3 in the playoffs and pays."

Fans are taking to social media in droves to react to Carlisle's questionable late-game decision.

"Why does Rick Carlisle not believe in fouling up 3. WHYYYYYYY," one Pacers fan said.

The Celtics lead the Pacers by five points with 16 seconds remaining in overtime.

Expect Carlisle's decision to not foul while up by three to be a major talking point in the NBA world on Wednesday.
