Pop Con celebrates another big year

INDIANAPOLIS — It was another memorable year for Pop Con Indy. The fan favorite event brought tens of thousands of people to the convention center for an entire weekend dedicated to all things pop culture.

This year fans enjoyed a variety of celebrity panels, interactive games, escape rooms, laser tag, and more. Celebrity guests included Elijah Wood and Andy Serkis from Lord of the Rings, Chandler Riggs from the Walking Dead, Dean Norris from Breaking Bad, and others.

“People have turned us into their annual vacation, ” said Carl Doninger, the co-owner of Pop Con, “Friends come from all over the country and this weekend is when they actually get together – it’s the ‘friend-cation.’ It’s just a place to be yourself all weekend, all walks of life, all demographics, all socio-economic backgrounds to all meet under the roof of Pop Con and have a blast for three days”

It was the 11th year for the event, and organizers said 2024 may break the record for the biggest year yet.

“[We are] pretty proud that we are able to have a very good positive economic impact on Central Indiana,” Doninger said. “We are home grown. We are Hoosiers. Let’s just keep building this together… We can’t wait to keep getting bigger and better for Indianapolis.”
